The role:Operations Manager
An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager working within the Operations team at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow. The role develops, plans and leads delivery through driving and co-ordinating the day-to-day business of the department as well as leading and motivating the local operations team to make decisions that deliver the business strategy and plan.
What you’ll do:
1. Design and implement a departmental strategy
2. Compliance with statutory requirements through adherence to procedures
3. Ensure availability of resources to maximise efficiency whilst delivering the required work load
4. Provide a safe working environment; role models and maintains safe and secure working practices
5. Identify, develop and achieve plans to improve performance and cost year-on-year
6. Develop, co-ordinate and deliver the business and finance plan
7. Co-ordinate the accurate and timely operational and business dashboards for each delivery area, working with Customer Insight to ensure external benchmarking and customer focus
8. Create and manage service level agreements with key suppliers and stakeholders
9. Identify and build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within engineering and across British Airways
10. Leads a customer-focused employee relations climate, working jointly with colleagues and trade unions through meaningful engagement and empowerment
11. Coach and develops a team of managers and ensures a talent pipeline throughout the team
12. Enables, empowers and embeds a continuous improvement culture that delivers value-added change
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
13. Strong people leadership skills, with ability to clearly explain and deliver business change
14. Utilises well-developed analytical and structured problem solving skills to make fact based decisions
15. Engaging communicator, able to present concepts and ideas to a variety of audiences and achieve buy in and delivery
16. Able to work as a team player in a complex, cross functional, operational environment
17. Demonstrated ability to coach, lead and engage with large groups of colleagues
18. Strong stakeholder management skills
19. Able to forecast and predict future challenges to embed a non-reactive, delivery led culture
20. Self-awareness with the ability to ask for help when needed
21. Confident and authentic in challenging the status quo to deliver business goals in a competitive environment
Your experience:
22. CAA Pt66 B licence required
23. An appropriate leadership or management qualification/ equivalent experience required
24. Demonstrable structured leadership training desirable
