Location: Port of Leith/Granton, with travel across our Scottish ports.
Compensation: Salary £40,114 + Call Out Allowance £3,352 + Overtime Allowance £5,444.
Hours: Monday‑Friday 0900‑1700 (alternative working patterns considered).
Overview
As a Marine Electrical Engineer you will provide critical electrical and electronic engineering support across all floating plant. You will maintain key navigational and vessel systems – including VHF, AIS and GPS – ensuring operational reliability and safety while complying with all safety procedures and marine standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned maintenance programmes and respond promptly to breakdowns, working independently or as part of a team.
* Ensure all equipment meets MCA and BV standards, keeping accurate records.
* Maintain tools, spare parts and materials to complete maintenance effectively.
* Communicate regularly with vessel crews and service providers, escalating unresolved issues to the Marine Engineering Manager.
* Respond to operational issues during and outside normal hours to minimise operational impact.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
* Report H&S concerns to the Marine Engineering Manager and assist in investigations.
* Maintain accurate departmental records, including attendance and work tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
* Extensive electrical experience across 12V, 24V, 240V and 415V systems.
* Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, alternators, starter motors, engine alarm systems, navigation equipment and lighting circuits on floating plant.
* Experience supporting vessel preparation for MCA or other statutory surveys and inspections.
* Full right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence.
