Technical Manager —Location: Devon & surrounding areas (South West England)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs/week (Mon–Fri). Overtime and on‑call rota with additional pay.

Role Overview
As Technical Manager you’ll troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC&R equipment across a range of commercial sites (care homes, pubs, restaurants, schools, government and corporate premises). You will be a leader with a strong technical understanding of commercial, light industrial and air conditioning systems, and a proven track record of delivering excellence to fellow engineers, apprentices and customers. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, liaise professionally with customers and colleagues, and provide technical leadership where required. The role will also include supporting the Managing Director with stock allocation, managing engineers’ workloads, and liaising with customers to maintain our award‑winning service.
No prior managerial experience is required — full training and development will be provided. We welcome senior engineers seeking to progress into leadership roles within the industry and looking to develop their skill sets. - This role is hybrid, some working in our Head Office, located in Paignton and working remotely on our customers sites.
Key responsibilities
* Assist the Managing Director in allocations of work loads
* Provide a point of contact for our engineering teams
* Provide Technical Support to our administration teams
* Diagnose and repair refrigeration and air conditioning faults across commercial systems
* Carry out planned maintenance and emergency call‑outs (on‑call rota)
* Complete service reports and maintain accurate job documentation
* Support and mentor junior engineers and subcontractors when required
* Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations within the business
* Communicate effectively with clients and fellow team members
Person specification Essential:
* Strong fault‑finding and technical ability on HVAC&R equipment
* Able to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication skills
* Based in South West England (Cornwall/Devon and surrounding areas)
* 2079 City & Guilds F‑Gas certification
Desirable:
* 6187‑21 City & Guilds hydrocarbon refrigerant handling (beneficial but not essential)
* CSCS card and PASMA (advantageous)
