The Role
KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables), and Chemicals. As our clients face unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.
Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK headquartered and inbound groups. Our work encompasses deal advisory support, international and domestic tax advice. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.
Our Deal Advisory Tax services include advising on the full spectrum of deals, from vendor assistance, refinancing, due diligence, to buy-side structuring. We focus on understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multi-country advice.
In tax advisory, we support clients with business and fiscal changes, including new jurisdiction entries, business reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, windfall taxes, and global fiscal reforms like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex projects to deliver high-quality advice
* Support business development efforts, including proposals and pitches
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships
* Act as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery
* Coach colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical tax advice on UK and international issues
* Analyze tax documents and data, highlighting key issues and their commercial implications
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically evaluating their input
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to thought leadership initiatives
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a strong interest in transactions
* Previous experience in the ENR sector is advantageous, but candidates with a keen interest and willingness to learn will also be considered
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded problem-solver
* Effective project management skills, team player, proactive
* Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Coaching skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
