Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. Please note the use of AI is monitored and if applicants have used it then they are required to declare this.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Patient Access Team for an Outpatient Clinic Coordinator.

The post holder will ensure all patients have appointments in a timely and efficient manner, and will be a point of contact for patients and staff for queries relating to patient appointments. They will manage bookings via our referral system, and be in charge of managing waiting lists and ensure we are adhering to RTT and National guidelines.

This post holder will be a key part of the team, focusing on delivering quality patient care.

1. To liaise with and act as a point of contact for queries from clinical and non-clinical staff
2. Demonstrate good communication ensuring open communication with patients, clinical and non-clinical staff in all departments.
3. Monitoring and booking the Trusts elective waiting lists for outpatients in guidance with the trusts waiting times policies and procedures, ensuring maximum efficiency is gained from existing capacity.
4. Manage patient communications through various methods providing advice and information relating to outpatient appointments including clinic arrangements within a timely manner
5. Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role’s line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate
6. To work as a team to help and support fellow team members at all times
7. To show a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed patients and relatives in an empathetic manner
8. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times, in accordance with Trust & Data Protection policy.
9. To book patient appointments in line with the PAP and arrange appointment related services as and when required (E.g. transport and interpreting services)
