Overview
Home Manager – Maternity Cover – Oak Cottage Children’s Residential (9 bed) – Walsall Wood. Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum. 9–12 months equivalent maternity leave cover. The home supports children and young people aged 4–18 with severe and complex care needs, acquired brain injury, complex learning disabilities and related behavioural challenges. The service provides a safe and supportive environment to promote goals and independence.
Responsibilities
* Ensure every child and young person’s needs are met and welfare is promoted at all times.
* Provide development, leadership, coordination and support for the staff group.
* Supervise Team Leaders to support the staff team.
* Take responsibility for all budgetary control relating to the home.
* Maintain effective records in accordance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and related standards.
* Prepare and oversee effective rotas.
* Lead the on-call rota as required.
* Work with Operations and Recruitment Manager to maintain staffing levels in line with safer recruitment and Ofsted requirements.
* Coordinate referrals for the home and respond flexibly to service requests within individual agreements and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
* Collaborate with Commissioning Partners, Police, LSCB, Public Health and Ofsted as appropriate.
Qualifications
* Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People).
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Minimum NVQ 4 Management or equivalent.
Experience
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children and young people.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior role with children and young people.
* Proven outcomes with Ofsted.
* Detailed knowledge of childcare regulations.
* Experience with learning difficulties, ASD and related behaviours that challenge and complex needs.

* Excellent time and priority management with work completed within required timescales and with low supervision.
