Senior Pharmacy Assistant

Brief Description of the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is capable of working as part of our friendly team. The position involves working closely with the Pharmacy Technicians to assist in the dispensing and supply of medicines for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to this the successful candidate will work in the Pharmacy led Anticoagulant Clinic taking and testing blood samples.

Please note this post is for a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave


Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role are:

* To assist in the dispensing and supply of medicines for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
* To carry out and report on routine finger prick blood tests for patients attending the Pharmacy led Anticoagulant Clinic.
* To act as receptionist in the Pharmacy led Anticoagulant Clinic and pharmacy reception when required.

Candidates must have significant experience of providing Pharmacy Support Services and must hold a Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy Services or be prepared to work towards it.

This post would be ideal for those working in community pharmacy and wanting to take a step into working within secondary care.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of working in a similar role
* Significant experience of dispensing
* Supervision of staff


Skills

* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Ability to work effectively under pressure
* Good team working skills
* Demonstrable attention to detail


Knowledge

* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Knowledge of Medicines Management
* Knowledge and understanding of Pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work


Qualifications

* Good basic general education
* NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or willing to work towards this qualification - in which case the salary will be paid at 75% of top of Band 3 salary, until the qualification is obtained).

* Flexibility in working hours to suit the needs of the department
