The Best Connection is currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver role on behalf of our client based in Darlington.

Our client is a well-established company specialising in general haulage, delivering services across the UK. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver seeking flexible, ad hoc work, with shifts available to suit business demands. The HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver role offers ongoing opportunities within a professional, service-focused environment.

The Role:

• HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver position
• Typically 2-3 nights out per week (depending on the job)
• General haulage duties as a HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver
• Start times usually between 05:00am and 06:00am
• Responsibilities include opening/closing curtains and ensuring loads are secure
• Delivering excellent customer service while working as a HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver, representing both the client and The Best Connection

The Candidate:

• Minimum of 2 years' commercial experience as a HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver
• Must be over 23 years old (for insurance purposes)
• Valid Cat C+E licence, CPC, and digital tachograph card
• Professional, reliable, and well-presented
• Honest with a strong work ethic
• Flexible and able to meet varying customer requirements
• Positive and customer-focused attitude, essential for any HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver

Hours of Work:

• Ad hoc shifts available based on business needs
• Early starts between 05:00am and 06:00am
• Tramping role with 2-3 nights out per week (job dependent)

Pay Rates:

• £15.00 per hour
• £25 per night out allowance
