Assistant Project Manager - 81570. This role reports to the Programme Manager and works within the Capital Programme based in Crawley. This is a permanent position.
Salary: £65,241 with a 3% bonus. Hybrid working after probation (6 months): 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Close Date: 26/11/2025.

Job Purpose
As the Assistant Project Manager (APM) you will assist Project Managers (PM) and Programme Managers (PRGM) in the delivery of the Capital Investment Programme of Projects and Connections projects. The APM will deliver work packages within a single project, across several projects or deliver smaller value projects.
Principal Accountabilities
* Support the Project Manager or Programme Manager in delivering large and high profile projects, managing several contracts and key stakeholders.
* Support in gaining project approvals and subsequently manage project expenditure within the sanctioned budgetary limits. Governance gates B, C and D.
* Organise mission-focused work team meetings including actions arising.
* Compile input to weekly safety reports.
* Help prepare reports for monthly client reviews.
* Become a Project Controls Systems superuser.
* Support the PM or PRGM in the delivery of a portfolio of projects ensuring all safety, quality and environmental standards are observed.
* Support the PM or PRGM in delivering a portfolio of projects to the required Programme and Output Dates.
* Support the PM or PRGM in the monthly reporting of Projects.
* Where required, compile Project Execution Plans (PEPs), Project Quality Plans (PQPs) and Contractual Documents.
* Where required produce Governance documentation.
* Support in identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
* Ensure that project lessons learnt are captured and implemented within the team.
* Mitigating scope change and risk across projects.
Stakeholder Management
Internal and External stakeholders as part of project delivery include:
* Portfolio Manager, Programme Manager, Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Project Planner, Procurement, Design Team, HSEQ Team, Asset Management, Connections Project Manager, Network Operations, PMO.
* External: Local authorities, councils, police, public and private sector partners, supply chain contractors, land owners, leaseholders.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications And Experience
* Exposure or practical experience of LV/HV or EHV electrical distribution network (desirable).
* Engineering discipline or project management qualification to HNC level preferred; ONC or equivalent required.
* Membership of a professional institute (IEE, ICE or APM or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
* Safety Management CSCS / IOSH preferred but not essential.
* Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
* Demonstrable work experience in a project delivery/construction environment.
