Job Description: People Business Partner – Fixed Term Contract 12 months (Maternity Cover) New Victoria Hospital, Kingston-Upon-Thames / Hybrid Full time (37.5 hours) Salary: Upto £55,000 PA We make health happen As our People Business Partner (12‑month maternity cover), you’ll join New Victoria Hospital at an exciting moment as we integrate into the wider Bupa Health Services family. Alongside leading day‑to‑day HR operations, you’ll play a pivotal role in aligning our people policies, systems, and ways of working with Bupa, ensuring colleagues feel the benefits of becoming part of a global healthcare organisation. Supporting around 340 colleagues and workers, you’ll act as Head of Department for HR, report to the HR Director, and line manage an experienced HR Assistant—championing a supportive, fair, and high‑performing culture during an important period of change. How you’ll help us make health happen Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations, ensuring a seamless and high‑quality experience for all colleagues. Advise and coach Heads of Department on employee relations, performance, and attendance matters. Manage complex ER casework, including misconduct, capability, and long-term absence cases. Lead change management programmes, including restructures and consultations. Support Heads of Department to deliver effective and compliant recruitment. Deliver people manager training, coordinate Hospital induction, and work with departmental training champions to maintain mandatory training compliance. Oversee benefits administration, including monthly pension submissions. Provide direct line management to the HR Assistant and ensure effective delivery across their workstreams. Support the HR Director with integration activities related to Bupa systems, processes, and frameworks. Key Skills / Qualifications Essential: CIPD‑qualified (or equivalent experience) with a strong generalist HR background. Extensive experience managing complex ER cases and leading change management programmes. Strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and respond to complex business issues. Experience reviewing and enhancing HR systems, processes, and ways of working. Proven ability to coach, influence, and build trust quickly with managers and senior stakeholders. Excellent communication skills with the ability to stay calm, pragmatic, and solutions‑focused in a fast‑paced environment. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and maintain resilience under pressure. Confident in using data and insight to identify risks early and recommend practical solutions. Desirable: Previous experience in healthcare, ideally within a private hospital setting.
