About the Role As a Motorsport Composite Technician, you will play a critical role in the production, trimming, fitting, and assembly of composite components such as carbon fiber and fiberglass parts. You will collaborate closely with our design, engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure components meet precise specifications and the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Laminating & Fabrication : Lay up and laminate composite materials using wet-lay and pre-preg methods, following technical drawings and specifications. Tooling & Mould Preparation : Prepare moulds and tooling for lamination, ensuring accuracy and alignment. Vacuum Bagging & Autoclave Operation : Perform vacuum bagging and operate autoclave machinery for curing parts, adhering to safety and quality protocols. Trimming & Fitting : Accurately trim and fit composite components using hand tools, jigs, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Surface Finishing : Sand, cut, polish, and finish composite materials to achieve top-quality surface standards. Assembly : Assemble composite parts into sub-assemblies or full vehicle builds, ensuring perfect fit and functionality. Bonding & Sealing : Apply adhesives and bonding agents for secure joining and sealing of components. Quality Control : Inspect components for defects, ensuring compliance with specifications, and perform repairs or report issues as needed. Tool Maintenance : Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition. Collaboration : Work closely with engineers, designers, and production teams to deliver projects on time and to standard. Health & Safety : Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE when working with composite materials. What We're Looking For Experience : At least 1 year of experience in composite laminating, trimming, and fitting, ideally in motorsport, aerospace, or high-performance automotive industries. Technical Skills : Proficiency in composite material processes (wet-lay, pre-preg, vacuum bagging, autoclave operation), bonding, sealing, and surface finishing. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments, and interpret technical drawings. Attention to Detail : A meticulous eye for quality and precision in all tasks. Physical Requirements : Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, handling composite materials, and lifting lightweight components. Teamwork & Communication : Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented setting. Problem-Solving : Ability to troubleshoot and work independently with minimal supervision. Desirable Qualities : Excellent hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. Education & Certifications : High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred). Certifications in composite laminating or automotive manufacturing are a plus. Working Conditions Work in a production environment with exposure to composite materials like carbon fiber, resins, and bonding agents.
