We have an exciting opportunity to expand our Diabetes Team and are seeking to recruit a senior midwife (Band 6) with an interest in Diabetes. This post will be 1 WTE.
As the post holder you will provide direct maternity care to these women in conjunction with the Diabetes consultant and multidisciplinary teams (MDT). Working collaboratively with the individual woman you will assess, plan, implement and coordinate their maternity care pathway.
The midwifery diabetic team works across sites, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe general hospital and works as part of the Antenatal clinic and DAU clinics.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the Diabetes team the post holder will be responsible for providing midwifery care to pregnant women with diabetes. As the post holder you will provide direct maternity care to these women in conjunction with the Diabetes consultant and multidisciplinary teams (MDT). Working collaboratively with the individual woman you will assess, plan, implement and coordinate their maternity care pathway.
Working collaboratively with the other team members you will assist the on-going development of Diabetes care pathways and frameworks, in line with national policies.
You will be accountable for the overall provision of excellent care, providing evidence based, woman-centred midwifery to women in the outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
In the absence of a Band 7 Team Leader, lead the team and manage the workload either in the community or in the unit.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

23. Clinical skills, in particular:Suturing, Cannulation, Supervision of epidural infusion
24. Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
