We are looking for a Band 6 Trainee Specialist End of Life Community Nurse to join our Community Nursing teams within the Canterbury Care network (PCN).
Role Overview
The Trainee Specialist End of Life Community Nurse (Band 6) will benefit from a robust 12-month development plan, upon successful completion of which you will be promoted to the Specialist End of Life Community Nurse Band 7 post. This plan includes achieving the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, focused on end of life care, within the 12 months, if not already held.
You will be responsible for supervising, teaching, and leading clinical staff, ensuring the quality of care delivered. You will manage complex end of life patients holistically under guidance during the initial 12 months, progressing to full autonomy post-completion. The role requires sound clinical judgment, decision-making, and acting as a professional role model.
Responsibilities
1. Provide caseload management within a designated geographical area.
2. Work alongside and provide clinical leadership across teams within the Primary Care Networks.
3. Supervise, teach, and lead team members, ensuring high standards of care.
4. Represent community nursing within the PCN and support secondary line management.
5. Possess or be willing to undertake non-medical prescribing, applying it effectively in end of life care.
6. Make clinical decisions and solve problems as a senior clinician, with accountability for team performance.
7. Support workforce development, staff wellbeing, and manage staff issues.
8. Oversee caseloads, especially managing complex patients requiring non-medical prescribing skills.
Candidate Requirements
* Experienced Community Nurse with non-medical prescribing experience or willingness to undertake training.
* Leadership experience to support team development and manage clinical challenges.
