The role
As a Vehicle Maintenance Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be maintaining, operating, and driving Armoured Fighting Vehicles and other specialist platforms, delivering critical support to the Contract in a dynamic and high-impact environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Perform Level 1 maintenance and repairs to vehicle-specific standards, following authorised procedures where training is provided
2. Safely operate vehicles on public roads and off-road, day and night
3. Conduct preparatory tasks including minor repairs, cleaning, painting, and refuelling
4. Manage collection and delivery of vehicle platforms as required
5. Support usage tracking and routine checks of stores and equipment.
This role is full time working 39 hours per week and is based on site at Bovington, Dorset.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Maintenance Operative:
6. Strong communicator, confident in representing the department during meetings and site visits
7. Manual handling and physical working
8. Must be 21 or older due to licensing requirements.
Qualifications for the Vehicle Maintenance Operative:
9. Full manual UK Driving Licence.
