About the Role
As the most comprehensive mental health service outside Brisbane, this mhs provides care to a catchment of over 250,000 people across 19 hospitals and health centres. The health service ranges from remote primary care to tertiary-level specialist care delivered at Townsville University Hospital—Northern Australia’s largest teaching hospital and a specialist referral centre for over 700,000 people.
Responsibilities
* Join adult community mental health teams.
* Deliver first-class contemporary psychiatric care.
* Support professional interests under a highly regarded Medical Director.
* Pursue sub-specialty interests and contribute to teaching and academic programs through James Cook University.
Qualifications
* FRANZCP or eligibility for the accelerated RANZCP pathway for ESP Specialist Pathway or RANZCP specialist assessment with substantial comparability assessment—contact us for guidance.
Required Skills
* Demonstrated expertise in community psychiatry and ability to work independently in such settings.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and across service boundaries.
* Culturally competent care and cross-cultural communication skills.
* Track record of leadership, innovation, clinical governance, and teaching.
Pay range and compensation package
* Up to 1st July 2026: $530, 587 plus on-call, overtime, and penalty shift allowances.
* From 1st July 2026: $542,588 plus on-call, overtime, and penalty shift allowances.
* From 1st July 2027: $554, 890 plus on-call, overtime, and penalty shift allowances.
* Lucrative Public Sector Package: Total remuneration up to $555K, plus generous on-call and additional allowances.
* CPD allowance of $22k annually - paid.
* Car allowance of up to $28k annually - paid.
