We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who will provide input to the East/Mid - Surrey Community Mental Health Team-Older People (CMHTOP). The successful candidate will provide consultant cover to the catchment area of Horley and care home in reach associated with Easy Surrey CMHTOP. There are 2 other substantive consultants working with the team alongside a multi-disciplinary team.
The Community Mental Health Team - Older People multidisciplinary teams will support the Consultant Psychiatrist with
Triaging of referrals daily
Completing initial assessments
Liaising and working collaboratively with other professionals
Arranging referrals to acute services where indicated
Locality Social workers provide safeguarding support
Our Offer:
1. NHS Consultant grade £93,666 - £126,281 per annum + £149 fringe + on- call requirement

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivering consultant psychiatric input to patients in the catchment area of Horley, and those residing in care homes in the catchment area covered by the East Surrey CMHTOP. This is for people who have been referred and accepted for treatment by the CMHTOP in line with the agreed criteria and commissioned care pathways.
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical leadership to the CMHTOP and act as a consultant/advisor to the team in line with models of practice recognised under 'New Ways of Working', particularly concerning patients whose mental health needs are complex and carry high risk. They will be expected to assess urgent referrals, working independently and with other team members. In addition, they will personally deliver direct clinical care each week and may visit patients at their place of residence if clinically indicated.
The post holder must liaise effectively with partner organisations and other local agencies and support the integrated working model. A collaborative approach to team working is essential. The post holder will be expected to consider all safe community treatment options with the multi-disciplinary team before referring patients to the 24/7 services.

Essential
8. MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
9. Full medical registration with a license to practice
10. Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist register or CCT in the appropriate speciality (or within six months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
11. Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
12. Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
Desirable
13. Relevant higher degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
14. MRCPsych or equivalent
Eligibility

15. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
16. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
17. Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience

19. Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.

22. Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings,including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
