Job summary
We are currently looking for a Facilities Manager to join our Infrastructure and Laboratory Services Function within the Corporate group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Some out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday working will be required on a rota basis.

Job description
What's the role?
The Facilities Manager will be responsible for managing the Facilities Team to allow the scientific functions to be delivered; ensuring the effective delivery of facilities services, consisting of internal and external building maintenance as well as contract management of a number of suppliers to provide planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repair of a variety of facilities and specialised equipment to support the South Mimms Site (SMS).
The site comprises state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure specialised to deliver the Science, Research & Innovation (S,R&I) statutory functions, including high containment, clean rooms, production filling areas, cold rooms and offices.
The post holder will also ensure the provision of out of hours cover, on a rota basis, and supervise contractors and apprentices as required.
Key responsibilities:
* Responsible for the line management of a small team to provide Facilities Services for the SMS, ensuring the buildings, facilities and grounds are safe and fit for use 24/7, to allow Science, Research and Innovation (S,R&I) to deliver their statutory functions.
* Accountable for the planned preventative maintenance program for specialist plant and equipment, ensuring all safety systems and equipment are maintained and fit for use.
* Contract manage various contracts to provide high quality facilities and services to the Agency/S,R&I, such as maintenance contracts for lifts, catering equipment, fire alarm and others. To include management, co-ordination and supervision of contractors and engineers.
* Manage projects, such as capital projects for new equipment or process, contract or technology projects to improve efficiency / save money with defined objectives to meet the future needs of the sites and make improvements and efficiencies in Facilities functions. Also, provide technical support to infrastructure and other projects as required.

Who are we looking for?
Our successful candidate will have:
* A NVQ Level 2 or HNC in a relevant discipline or equivalent in addition to practical experience in a facilities services in production, cleanrooms, containment laboratories in the pharmaceutical industry, hospitals or equivalent.
* Expert knowledge is required in the following areas, gained by a minimum of 6 years working in the field, for example:
* PUWER
* PSSR
* LOLER
* Drainage systems and water systems / plumbing
* Canteen equipment
* Lifts
* Fire Alarm Equipment and Systems
* Statutory functions – for example Gas, L8 legionella, asbestos.
* In depth understanding of maintenance or building / facilities services, managing a team to deliver planned preventative maintenance across a range of engineering systems. Likely to be achieved by working in similar role in a laboratory environment. Experience in the use of CAFM systems.
* Well-documented experience of working in hazardous / regulated environments in compliance with permits, risk assessments and method statements and experience in staff and contract management.
* Work with stakeholders to set priorities, objectives and timescales. Successfully deliver high quality outcomes that meet the customers' needs and gives value for money
