Are you currently working in a similar role, or you are a dairy farm assistant looking for the next step - either way, this Production Manager (2IC) leadership opportunity at Sommervilles Dairy could be the ideal opportunity for you.
Join this supportive and friendly team who all work well together, as 2IC you will also work closely with the Farm Manager.
You will help to implement farm plans and take on a degree of responsibility for feed allocation, animal health and breeding and animal records. You will also be happy to muck in and support the team where needed.
On the Farm Manager’s day off, you will take responsibility for the team, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Farm
Somervilles Dairy Unit is located just outside of Reefton. Somervilles is a progressive 500 ha property milking approximately 1,000 cows through a 60-bail rotary shed with ACR’s, MilkHub and an in-shed feeding system.
About You
You are self‑motivated and passionate about dairy farming, wanting to grow your career and develop your leadership skills.
Qualifications
* Proven dairy experience in grazing and animal health
* A commitment to individual and team development
* Pasture management and feed planning skills
* High standards of animal welfare and commitment to health and safety
* Self‑motivation and initiative, able to problem‑solve
* Current and full NZ driver’s licence
* Experience driving farm machinery/tractors – preferable
