Managing Quantity Surveyor – Major Healthcare Project
Location: West Yorkshire
Play a key commercial leadership role on a landmark healthcare project
GRAHAM are to be appointed as Contracting Partner for the regeneration of a major general hospital site, forming a flagship scheme within the UK’s New Hospital Programme.
This major scheme will deliver a modern, digitally enabled healthcare facility (circa 82,m² of new build plus refurbishment) using innovative construction methods to transform the future of healthcare delivery. We are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in the commercial delivery of this high-profile project.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will provide commercial leadership and oversight across the programme, ensuring robust cost control, value recovery, and effective contract management throughout the project lifecycle.
You will lead and manage commercial teams, drive performance, and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
· Establish and manage project budgets, including detailed cost reporting structures
· Oversee procurement of subcontract packages and tender processes
· Administer main contracts and subcontracts, ensuring full compliance
· Provide accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control
· Manage variation and compensation event processes effectively
· Lead on commercial strategy, ensuring protection of GRAHAM’s position
· Undertake delay analysis and manage loss and expense claims
· Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
· Lead, manage, and develop commercial teams
· Attend and represent GRAHAM at commercial and progress meetings
About You
· Proven experience operating at Senior / Managing QS level within a main contracting environment
· Strong track record delivering large-scale construction projects
· Extensive experience with JCT and NEC forms of contract
· Highly skilled in cost control, forecasting, and commercial management
· Experience managing subcontractors and complex supply chains
· Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
· Experience in delay analysis and claims management highly desirable
· Degree qualified and/or professionally qualified (e.g. MRICS)
