There is an exciting opportunity to join the award-winning Flood Risk Management Team in Lancashire. The team leads Lancashire County Council’s role as Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), delivering local flood risk management across the county.
We currently have a vacancy for a Flood Risk Officer to help the county council fulfil its Lead Local Flood Authority responsibilities in managing local flood risks.
The role focusses on delivering the Lead Local Flood Authority's statutory duties, which include:
1. Responding to planning application consultations and developer enquiries through our Lead Local Flood Authority Advice Service.
2. Supporting Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) with the development of Local Plan policies and evidence base documents, such as Strategic Flood Risk Assessments.
3. Regulating ordinary watercourses.

4. Supporting delivery of objectives within the Lancashire Local Flood Risk Management Strategy 2021 – 2027.
5. Working collaboratively with internal and external partners through multi-agency meetings.
6. Providing general advice and responding to enquiries from a range of internal and external customers.
7. Supporting other Lead Local Flood Authority functions as required.
This post will suit someone with knowledge and experience in planning, flood risk management/hydrology, engineering or landscape/ecology. You will need to work independently and manage your own workload. You must have confidence in dealing with the public, and be capable of communicating complex technical matters clearly and confidently. You must be computer literate with experience of using Microsoft Office. Experience with planning, drainage and other relevant software is desirable.

There will be a requirement to represent the Lead Local Flood Authority at some meetings or community engagement events outside normal office hours.
You must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle, as this is an essential user post.
