Secondary SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant | Support Role

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary

Salary: £88.92 - £95 per day

Start Date: ASAP

The Role: Empowering Independence in Secondary Education

Are you a resilient and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support a young person through their secondary school journey?

We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide 1:1 support for a specific student within a vibrant secondary school environment. At this level, your role is not just about academic support, but about helping a student build the confidence, social skills, and independence needed to succeed in their teenage years and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with Subject Teachers and the SENCO, your day-to-day will include:

* Curriculum Access: Providing 1:1 support across a variety of secondary subjects (KS3/KS4), helping the student manage complex timetables and transitions.

* EHCP Implementation: Delivering the targets outlined in the student's Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan or IEP.

* Exam Support: Assisting with adapted materials and potentially acting as a scribe or reader during assessments.

* Social & Life Skills: Helping the student navigate the complexities of secondary school social dynamics and fostering emotional regulation.

* Promoting Independence: Implementing strategies that move the student toward self-reliance in preparation for post-16 transitions.

* Progress Tracking: Collaborating with staff to monitor academic progress and behavioural trends.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a mentor-figure who is patient, proactive, and understands the unique challenges of the secondary setting:

* Experience: Previous experience with secondary-aged youth with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or Moderate Learning Difficulties).

* Adaptability: The ability to support a variety of subjects and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.

* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with teenagers while maintaining professional boundaries.

* Resilience: A firm but fair approach to managing challenging behaviours or emotional outbursts.

* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or experience in a secondary education or youth work setting is highly desirable.

What We Offer

* Competitive Daily Rate: £88.92 - £95 per day.

* Secondary Experience: A chance to gain meaningful experience in a Key Stage 3 and 4 environment.

* Supportive Environment: Access to a collaborative department and regular guidance from the school's SENCO.

* Impactful Work: The satisfaction of helping a young person overcome barriers to their future success.
