What youâll do Youâll be responsible to enforce The Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 which prevent waste, misuse, undue consumption and contamination of the water supply. This helps to protect water quality by ensuring customersâ plumbing systems comply with the Water Byelaws. Youâll be working closely with our scheduling team to plan efficient routes and manage your diary so you can carry out inspections at sites that present the highest risk to our network. Youâll support investigations into suspected contamination incidents and make informed decisions by agreeing on timescales and corrective actions where needed. Youâll issue non-compliance reports and follow up to ensure that any contraventions are properly resolved. Youâll also play a key part in helping the Water Byelaws Team meet performance targets and deadlines, while contributing to both individual and team success. Building strong relationships will be a big part of your day-to-day work â not just within your own team and across Scottish Water, but also with external stakeholders and customers. This will help ensure everyone understands whatâs required to stay compliant with Water Byelaws. Finally, youâll be responsible for accurately recording evidence and preparing reports that may be used to support legal proceedings if non-compliance is taken further. What youâll bring Youâll have a basic understanding of water services and be competent in the use of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel and Outlook). Be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and experience with ensuring quality of data input. Some Desirable skills/knowledge but donât worry if you don't have: Knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 Knowledge of Water (Scotland) Act (1980) specific to Water Byelaws Previous plumbing experience or relevant plumbing qualification Understanding of the construction industry Ability to read technical plumbing schematics Knowledge and practical experience of risk assessment procedures Knowledge of one or more of the corporate systems e.g. Dynamics Again donât worry if you do not have these, you can expect to receive excellent training and support to enable you to competently carry out this role. The not-so-small print This role will be a Grade 5. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £32,650. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £38,610. Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party.
