The main purpose of the role is to provide a high-quality service to internal and external customers in line with force service standards. The role involves taking initial contact from members of the public via in person, telephone, or video conference, and dealing appropriately. Responsibilities include recording incidents and crime reports on Force systems, and undertaking straightforward investigative actions for low-level, non-deployable crimes.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Deal with enquiries from members of the public face-to-face, by phone, email, video call, or other electronic communication platforms.
2. Interact with members of the public and colleagues professionally, efficiently, and courteously, adhering to the Code of Ethics.
3. Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to members of the public and visitors at front counters, recording crimes on Athena.
4. Apply the NSIR when recording incidents and adhere to the Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR) when recording crime reports.
5. Record and investigate non-deployable crimes, ensuring reasonable and proportionate investigative opportunities, including arranging CCTV recovery, completing victim and witness statements remotely, managing police exhibits, updating victims, conducting risk assessments, and handling general office inquiries related to investigations.
6. Accurately update, retrieve, and interrogate all Force IT systems.
7. Identify further evidential opportunities or suspects and provide comprehensive updates on investigations to facilitate further police action.
8. Undertake other duties appropriate to the level and responsibilities of this role as required.
Knowledge:
5 GCSEs including English Language A-C grade or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience working in a team within a customer service environment.
Key Skills:
* Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
* Ability to gather, collate, and maintain accurate records.
* Proficiency in data entry and maintenance.
* Competent in IT, including Microsoft Office packages.
Special Conditions:
* Shift work, including unsociable hours, weekends, and public holidays.
* Wearing of uniform.
