Requirements
HND or Degree in Building or Architectural Technology
Experience as an Architectural Technician including full contract administrator duties in accordance with the RIBA Plan of Work
Sound and extensive knowledge of building construction techniques and detailing
Working knowledge of contract law and contract conditions
Competent AutoCAD skills
Working knowledge and understanding of building defects, analysis and remedies
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM
Demonstrate an awareness of Retrofit, Enerphit and Passive House
Demonstrable ability in design and experience preparing contract drawings across a full range of project sizes
Responsibilities
Provide a complete range of architectural services to the council and external public agencies
Preparation of Building Designs, Contract Drawings, Specifications and Documentation for capital and minor works, retrofit, maintenance and domestic projects.
Provide Professional and Technical advice to the Department, other Council Departments and external public agencies, as appropriate
Leading / assisting in contract administration for a variety of construction projects as they develop through the RIBA stages to ensure appropriate delivery.
Ensure working practices are current and compliant with statutory requirements, planning and building regulations and Health and Safety legislation.
Work on construction projects and maintenance projects ensuring compliance with professional standards and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

Experience as an Architectural Technician

Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
Willingness to continually develop skills including the capacity to share that knowledge with colleagues
Sound and extensive knowledge of energy efficient building design, construction techniques and detailing.
Demonstrate an interest in Retrofit and achieving Nett Zero across all building forms
Familiarity with contract law and contract conditions, competent AutoCAD skills, knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM, the ability to run architectural projects from inception to post completion.
Microsoft packages eg. O365, Microsoft word Excel etc
Effective time management skills to achieve project objectives
Good negotiating skills at all levels
Presentation skills
Ability to work with people in other professional disciplines and deal directly with clients.
Ability to undertake site visits and surveys, including working at height, confined spaces, etc.
