Our client, a respected local authority in Northern Ireland, is seeking to appoint a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join their Sustainability team. Key Responsibilities: Enforce a wide range of Environmental Health legislation across commercial and residential settings. Conduct proactive inspections, audits, and risk assessments in line with legal and policy frameworks. Investigate environmental complaints and incidents including pollution, food safety, workplace accidents, and infectious disease outbreaks. Collaborate with partner agencies to promote public health campaigns and deliver educational initiatives. Prepare statutory notices, legal case files, and act as expert witness when required. Provide guidance across council departments and contribute to strategic environmental planning. Candidate Requirements: Essential: Degree (Level 6 or above) in Environmental Health, eligible for CIEH membership. Minimum 6 months' relevant experience. Strong communication, analytical, and IT skills. Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation. Valid driving licence or access to suitable transport. Desirable: One year post-graduate experience in Environmental Health. Additional technical or management qualifications. Additional Information: Some out-of-hours work may be required, for which appropriate remuneration will apply.
