The role
London or Manchester (Hybrid working model, 2 days a week office based, 3 days remote)
Competitive Salary plus performance related bonus
As the Economic & Financial Modelling Lead, you'll play a central role within DCC’s Finance team—developing and enhancing key financial and economic models that underpin investment strategies, commercial finance, cost forecasts, and regulatory submissions. Your work will directly support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with regulatory and government standards.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical modelling capabilities, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What will you be doing?
· Build, maintain, and continuously improve financial and economic models aligned with commercial and regulatory priorities.
· Lead Green Book business case modelling and ensure alignment with government expectations.
· Deliver transparent, high-quality models that support investment appraisals, scenario analysis, and risk assessments.
· Collaborate with internal teams (Finance, Regulatory, Commercial) and external stakeholders (e.g. DESNZ, Ofgem) to ensure modelling excellence.
· Communicate financial insights effectively to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
· Support pricing strategies, cost control initiatives, and commercial planning.
· Champion best practices and continuous improvement within DCC’s modelling function.
What are we looking for?
· 5+ years’ experience in financial and economic modelling with a record of delivering robust and auditable models.
· Advanced skills in cost-benefit analysis, scenario modelling, and commercial finance, using tools such as Excel, Python, or R.
· Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, especially Green Book methodology.
· Proven ability to engage confidently with regulators, government bodies, and commercial teams.
· Commercially aware with strong skills in financial planning, investment appraisal, and pricing strategies.
· Exceptional analytical thinking and the ability to communicate insights to diverse audiences.
· Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field. A master’s degree or qualification such as CFA or CIMA is desirable.

Step 1

All vacancies are posted on our careers site on a page like this one, where you can apply online. You'll be asked to submit a short application form so we can find out more about you. Due to the high volume of applications, you'll only hear back from us if you've been successful.
Step 2
Chat with a recruiter
Once you pass the initial screening stage, one of our recruiters will be in touch to chat through the role and your experience. If all goes well, your application will be passed on to the hiring manager, who'll put together a shortlist for interview.
Step 3
Come for an interview
For most roles there'll be a two-stage interview process, which will include questions about your CV, competency and technical skills. For more senior positions there could be an additional interview stage. You may also be asked to give a presentation or complete a technical test, but we'll let you know in advance so you have plenty of time to prepare.
Step 4
Receive an offer
Once the interview process has been completed the successful candidate will receive an offer. Throughout the interview process the recruiter and hiring manager are happy to answer any questions you have.
