Consultant with interest in Maternal Medicine & Obstetric Scanning
Applications are invited for the above Substantive post in the newly formed North West Anglia NHS Trust. Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust formally merged with Hinchingbrooke Hospital on 1st April 2017, to form the new Trust (on 3 sites).
It is expected that the successful candidate will be working on one site at Peterborough City Hospital though there may be a need for cross site working in the future across all 3 sites. The total number of deliveries at NWAFT is 6100 per annum. This appointment will be made by the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and responsibilities
Pursue an interest in line with service needs and an opportunity to provide leadership in General obstetrics and gynaecology.
Pursue an interest in line with service needs.
Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Obstetric patients.
Care for high risk pregnant women with complex medical problems.
Be able to perform Obstetric Scans including Growth scans, Doppler assessment
Collaborate in MDT work in High Risk Obstetrics and Maternal medicine.
Work with Obstetric and midwifery teams to help reduce the perinatal mortality rates through participation in national initiatives.
Develop or update obstetric guidelines, particularly for women with medical disorders in pregnancy and be actively involved in the guideline process.
Provide clinical input and leadership in Maternal Medicine, liaise with the management team to develop infrastructure for the provision of the service.
Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department management and development of the service.
Expected to cover both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies during on calls. On Rota is 1 in 14.
Provide emergency care to early pregnancy and acute Gynaecology emergencies whilst on call.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCOG or equivalen
* ATSM / SITM Maternal Medicine or High Risk Pregnancy or Advanced Antenatal Practice equivalence either subspecialisation or 'grandfathering'
* CCT and/or inclusion on the Specialist Register of GMC or within six months of the Appointments Advisory Committee
* Full GMC Registration
* ATSM IN Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology
* Labour Ward ATSM or equivalence or 'grandfathering'
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in MDT team working, practice and providing leadership.
* Recent active involvement in practical intrapartum obstetrics
* Broad experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Able to perform laparoscopic surgery for ectopic pregnancy
* Able to perform Obstetric ultrasound: Growth/Dopplers/Anomaly
* Teaching at post- and undergraduate levels
Academic Achievements
* Evidence of Attendance and presentation [incl poster] at national or international Obstetric and gyne meetings
* Evidence of completed and published research
