Job Title: Hygiene Supervisor
Reporting to: Hygiene Manager
Location: Stubs Beck Lane
Role Brief
The Hygiene Supervisor is responsible for ensuring effective cleaning, sanitisation, and housekeeping standards across the Orean Group. The role ensures compliance with GMP and relevant ISO standards (ISO22716, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001) while driving improvements in hygiene processes and awareness throughout the site.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Supervise and coordinate Hygiene Technicians and Hygiene Teams.
* Allocate tasks and set priorities to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
* Manage team holidays and ensure adequate cover to support production schedules.
* Oversee the day-to-day running of hygiene and washout teams.
* Step in to the hygiene manger's role in their absence.
* To follow and embed the core company values – Collaboration, Ambition, Expertise, Agility & Integrity.
* Any other duties as required by the Hygiene Manager
Hygiene Standards & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with company, GMP, and ISO hygiene standards across all areas.
* Lead and implement hygiene improvements across manufacturing, pre-weigh, and production areas.
* Drive GMP awareness across the site, challenging and reporting non-conformances.
* Ensure deep cleans are planned, executed, and documented in line with procedures.
* Maintain and improve housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
* An understanding of the cGMP requirements from the FDA
Process Improvement & Risk Management
* Analyse hygiene processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness.
* Drive awareness and training regarding microbiological contamination risks.
* Support environmental monitoring, testing, and process reviews alongside the Quality Manager.
* Manage and monitor safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
* Ensure all hygiene equipment, including floor-cleaning machinery, is maintained and operational.
Collaboration & Communication
* Liaise with Planning and Production Managers to ensure hygiene schedules align with production needs.
* Assist in managing spill containment and emergency cleaning when required.
* Oversee and monitor routine swabbing and hygiene verification activities.
Continuous Improvement
* Regularly review processes, procedures, and records to identify improvements.
* Lead initiatives to improve hygiene efficiency and drive best-in-class standards.
* Report any health and safety risks, damages, incidents, or bad practices promptly.
Maintenance of the site's microbiology records
* Review and record all microbiological testing this includes:
* Swabs
* Finished goods
* Bulk
* Water
* Analise the microbiological data identifying trends and areas of improvements
* Maintain contact with our third-party testing houses.
Support of the cleaning staff
* Assist where necessary the onsite and third-party cleaning team
* Facilitate holiday cover ensuring the onsite cleaning is performed.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong understanding of cGMP, hygiene processes, and ISO compliance.
* Proven supervisory or team leadership experience.
* Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling.
* Ability to identify process improvements and implement best practices.
* Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
