Gallagher Bassett Technical Services seeks a qualified environmental, health, and safety (EHS) professional to join our Safety & Health Team. The ideal candidate must be proactive, capable of managing projects, and delivering quality consulting services with minimal supervision.
This is a contract-based, full-time site safety management position overseeing safety operations for capital infrastructure construction projects in the New York City metro area. Work is expected to commence in spring 2025 and conclude by May 2030 (+5-year duration). The Site Safety Manager will be solely responsible for safety matters at the assigned work site, with no additional contract responsibilities.
Pay: $60-$100/hr depending on experience.
How you'll make an impact
Responsibilities
* Report directly to the Director of Field Operations (NY Metro Area).
* Implement and enforce construction site safety programs compliant with federal, state, local regulations, and client requirements.
* Oversee all site activities related to safe work practices, including reviewing construction/engineering designs and plans.
* Ensure subcontractors adhere to safety compliance, including fire/life safety, safety training, certifications, emergency procedures, plans, drills, and environmental safety/risk management.
* Perform daily safety inspections, audits, and operational safety readiness testing.
* Coordinate safety personnel for construction or build-out projects.
* Communicate and coordinate safety-related items with the General Contractor’s office.
* Be familiar with environmental regulations, workplace hazard controls, and provide recommendations to mitigate hazards.
About You
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety and health, environmental health, or a related field.
* BCSP Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with at least 3 years of construction safety experience.
* Experience with civil tunneling and electrical infrastructure projects (e.g., utilities, hydroelectric dams, wind/solar, co-generation, transmission).
* Ability to instruct and train on-site personnel.
* Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Preferred:
* Active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
* Bi-lingual in Spanish or other languages.
* Located in the NYC Metro area (Westchester County).
