Junior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery – MT03


Job overview

Excellent opportunity within the Neurosurgery Department at Royal Preston Hospital. Full‑time, fixed‑term 6‑month appointment for a Junior Clinical Fellow at ST1‑3 level, with on‑call duties and clinical responsibilities aligned with the job description.


Main duties of the job

* Organise and deliver day‑to‑day pre‑ and post‑operative care of inpatients under guidance of Registrars and Consultants.
* Maintain ward presence during normal working hours unless attending other clinical duties.
* Attend routine or emergency operating sessions as required or when opportunity allows.
* Cooperate within multidisciplinary teams and support structures, including Nurse Practitioners.

Person specification


Qualifications

* Full current GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or Equivalent
* MRCS Part 1 or equivalent


Experience and Skills

* Completed Foundation years training
* Basic skills for patient’s daily management
* Management of critically ill patients
* UK experience in Neurosurgery
* Previous experience in Surgical specialties at level ST1‑3
* Neurosurgical experience
* Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit


Personal

* Proven effective communication skills (with examples)
* Good organisational skills (with examples)
* Works well within a multidisciplinary environment
* Computer skills


Health

* Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice
