I&M Junior Project Manager – Somerset
Carmichael UK are seeking a proactive Instrumentation & Monitoring (I&M) Junior Project Manager to support the delivery of a major instrumentation and monitoring package on a significant civils project in Somerset.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer or project professional with an I&M background to gain hands-on experience in a highly regulated environment. You will play a key role in ensuring quality, safety, and accurate monitoring across one of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of the project’s instrumentation and monitoring scope, including sensor installation, data capture, and reporting.
Support the Project Manager in maintaining compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and H&S regulations.
Help prepare and analyse monitoring data reports to track ground movement, structural behaviour, and environmental performance.
Work with site teams and I&M specialists to ensure monitoring systems are installed, calibrated, and maintained correctly.
Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with technical reporting and data management.
About You
Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Instrumentation & Monitoring-related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
Practical experience or understanding of instrumentation and monitoring systems in civil or geotechnical environments (e.g., inclinometers, piezometers, strain gauges, data loggers).
Basic knowledge of quality assurance processes and health & safety regulations.
CSCS card (essential); Sentinel certification (advantageous).
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Previous experience on civil engineering or infrastructure projects, particularly with I&M works, is highly desirable.

Must be living in and authorised to work in the UK.
CSCS card required.
