Your next step in financial planning starts here…
At Juniper Wealth Management, we believe financial planning changes lives. We’re a growing, forward-thinking firm dedicated to supporting our team’s development and success. We take pride in our friendly, down-to-earth culture and our commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals.
We specialise in delivering a very personal and bespoke service, using technology to work with clients nationwide from our offices in Preston, Lancashire. Our clients include dentists, doctors, business owners, senior executives, and trustees, reflecting our specialist and in-depth knowledge of their financial challenges.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Paraplanner or Financial Administrator looking to take the next step towards becoming a Financial Planner. If you have a passion for financial planning, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine interest in people—not just numbers—we’d love to hear from you.
What this isn’t…
I know the LinkedIn advert says Trainee Financial Planner / Paraplanner, but not everyone knows what an Associate Financial Planner is.
·This isn’t a role where you’re stuck in the back office, churning out reports with no client interaction.
·This isn’t a high-pressure sales role where you're expected to sink or swim.
·This isn’t a corporate, rigid environment where you're just another number.
·This isn’t a ‘throw-you-to-the-wolves’ trainee adviser role where you're left to figure things out alone.
What this is…
A structured, hands-on training pathway to becoming a Financial Planner, with real mentorship and guidance.
Office-based role in Preston, with the option to work from home sometimes if needed. You’ll be expected in client meetings though, so a lot of time will be spent physically in the office or at client houses.
Flexible working is fine with us; you want to go to your child’s assembly? Be our guest. Need to go to a hospital appointment? Absolutely fine. We trust you to get your hours in and your work done.
Client-facing from day one, giving you the opportunity to build relationships and develop the skills to advise effectively.
Working alongside experienced planners, observing, learning, and gradually stepping into an advisory role in a supportive and encouraging environment.
An opportunity to develop both technically and personally, growing your confidence, knowledge, and ability to help clients achieve their goals.
Being part of a small, friendly team, where you’ll be supported, valued, and given room to grow.
This is your chance to become a Financial Planner the right way—learning, developing, and building a career in a firm that truly invests in you.
What you’ll be doing…
As an Associate Financial Planner, you’ll work closely with an experienced Financial Planner, gaining hands-on experience and building the skills needed to become a Financial Planner yourself. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting your financial planner: Helping prepare client files, conduct research, and draft financial plans.
* Technical calculations & research: Gathering and analysing data to support financial recommendations.
* Client interaction: Communicating with clients and providers via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
* Observing & learning: Attending client meetings, taking notes, and understanding real-world financial planning.
* Implementation & administration: Assisting in executing financial strategies and keeping everything running smoothly.
* Working with senior admin: You will be the middle person between planners and admin to ensure the client experience is smooth and efficient; good communication and teamwork is essential. We believe our admin staff are a key to our firm running well, so there is no ‘us and them’ culture here – you are part of the team whoever you are.
* Being part of the team: We’re a small business—everyone gets involved to support each other.
Who we are looking for…
* Aspiring Financial Planner: Currently in a paraplanning role, looking for career progression. We will consider financial admin too if the skills and qualifications match.
* Qualifications: Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or working towards being qualified).
* Experience: 2+ years in financial services (administration or paraplanning).
* Technical skills: Strong knowledge of financial planning tools, products, and Microsoft Office.
* Attention to detail: A process-driven, organised approach with a high level of accuracy.
* Great communicator: Strong written and verbal skills, with a client-first mindset.
* Team player: Someone who thrives in a small, collaborative firm.
* A passion for financial planning: Understanding that this job is about people and their goals, not just numbers.
* Curiosity: Someone who is up for listening to podcasts in their spare time, reading up on the latest financial news, pursuing activities that develop great soft skills with clients, and keen on being the best they can be.
What’s in it for you?
* Competitive salary: £27,000 - £40,000 + team-based bonus (so we all win together!). The big range of salary is dependent on experience and exams, but there is much room for growth at a fast pace.
* Career progression: A structured path towards becoming a Financial Planner. This includes training, role-play, seminars and webinars with an external provider to help you practice soft skills as well as technical knowledge.
* Training & support: Financial and study support towards qualifications.
* Annual leave: 20 days holiday + bank holidays + we close between Christmas & New Year. You gain three extra days after three years’ service and then three more after five years’ service.
* Pension & benefits: Workplace pension scheme and private medical insurance.
* A friendly, supportive team: Work in an environment where you’ll be valued, supported, and challenged. I promise we’re dead nice!
Why join Juniper Wealth Management?
