An opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at the Basildon site for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician.
We are looking for a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician dependent on experience, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our department. Actively participate in the delivery of a wide range of pharmacy services including Dispensary services, Medicine Management and Optimisation.
You will be a dedicated, hard‑working individual that works well in a team environment as well as under your own initiative. Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Communicate drug or medicine related information to patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Communicate with ward staff to ensure timely supply of medicines.
* Transcribe clinically screened items to order.
* To participate in discharge planning with patients, ward staff and other healthcare professionals in secondary and primary care in order to ensure timely discharge and seamless care post discharge.
* Provide advice to patients in written or verbal format to encourage compliance.
* To assess the suitability of patients' own medicines for continued use during their hospital stay.
* Responsible for the ordering of medicines to the wards under their responsibility, adhering to formulary.
* To ensure ward handover to covering Technician in absence.
* Dispensary Services
* Review prescriptions, dispense and safely supply drugs to patients, ensuring all pertinent information is entered into the department's pharmacy stock control system. Perform final accuracy check on dispensed products following completion of the ACT scheme. Contribute to the maintenance of good stock control within the dispensary. Receive, issue and check controlled drugs.

Qualifications
* GPHC registration
* BTEC / NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical science
Experience
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
* Hospital pharmacy experience
