We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to support the delivery of construction and utility projects, with a focus on soils, earthworks, and environmental compliance.
The role will work closely with contractors and project teams to ensure works are carried out in line with Soil Management Plans, method statements, and industry best practice. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical experience in environmental project delivery while ensuring work is completed efficiently and in line with industry best practice.
Responsibilities
Construction & Site Delivery
* Support delivery of construction and infrastructure projects
* Undertake site inspections to monitor earthworks, ground conditions, and reinstatement
* Undertake the preparation and completion of Records of Condition (RoCs), including baseline condition surveys, photographic evidence, and reinstatement sign-off
* Review contractor activities against Soil Management Plans (SMPs) and method statements
* Identify and manage risks relating to soil handling, trafficking, and compaction
Soils, Earthworks & Ground Management
* Oversee soil stripping, storage, and reinstatement operations
* Monitor soil conditions (e.g. moisture, plasticity, trafficking thresholds)
* Provide practical input into earthworks and ground condition management
* Ensure compliance with relevant guidance (e.g. Defra Soil Code, CL:AIRE)
Landowner & Stakeholder Liaison
* Assist with communications with landowners, agents and contractors
* Support preparation of notices, agreements, and general correspondence
Environmental Schemes & Compliance
o Support environmental compliance across active construction site
o Assist with evidence gathering and documentation for inspections and audits
o Support mapping and data entry using platforms such as LandApp
o Ensure adherence to project-specific environmental plans and constraints
Reporting & Administration
o Assist with site reports, technical notes, and client updates
o Maintain organised project records and trackers
Skills & Experience
o Degree (or working towards) in Agriculture, Environmental Management, Soil Health, Construction or similar
o Experience working with construction, infrastructure or utility projects
o Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
o Good written and verbal communication skills
o Competent in Microsoft Office
o Willingness to learn and develop professionally
o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
o Willingness to travel to UK project sites when required
