An opportunity has arisen within our Signalling Department for a Signalling Team Leader with SMTH Competency to undertake general S&T installation duties and lead SMTH testing activities.
Location: York or Doncaster, but will be expected to travel across the UK.
Vehicle, PPE and tools will be provided.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience and competencies.
The Role
As a Signalling Team Leader with SMTH you will be experienced in general signalling installation techniques, and be competent in undertaking SMTH testing of signalling equipment following like-for-like replacements on infrastructure-based signalling systems. With experience of SMTH Testing on equipment including train control, train detection, cables, power supplies, signals, AWS, TPWS, points and level crossing systems. You will also be expected to be up to date with current Network Rail practices and procedures, and be confident in dealing directly with Network Rail signallers and local maintenance staff.
Testing Requirements
Have or be working towards IRSE Licence category v5.
In accordance with SMTH, Part 1, Module 4, all SMTH Testers will be either "Competent" or "Competent and experienced" and have the following competencies on their Sentinel Profile:
* Core Skills (SMTH a)
* Aspect Test (SMTH b)
* Cable Function (SMTH d)
* Diversion of a Circuit (SMTH f)
* Points Testing (SMTH c)
* Signalling Intermediate Testing Handbook (desirable)

* Valid PTS AC/DCCR and COSS
* Full clean UK driving licence
* Excellent communication skills
* Reliable
* Flexible
* Basic computer operating skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
An up-to-date IRSE Log book will be required at interview stage along with equipment specific bolt on competence certification under SMTH.
