Teaching Assistant – SEN School
Huddersfield | Full-Time | Term-Time Only
£22,478 – £26,839 (Depending on Experience)
We’re looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant to join a brand-new SEN school in Huddersfield, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with additional learning needs. Pupils may have a range of needs including autism, social and emotional difficulties, speech and language challenges, and other complex learning requirements.
You’ll play a key role in supporting their academic, emotional, and social development in a therapeutic and nurturing environment.
What You’ll Do:
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support in and out of class
* Assist with speech, language, literacy, and numeracy development
* Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence
* Support lesson delivery, behaviour management, and resource preparation
* Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
What We’re Looking For:
* GCSEs (A–C) or NVQ Level 2 in Maths and English
* Experience working in a primary, secondary or SEN setting
* Strong communication, organisation, and ICT skills
* Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with pupils
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
