Overview
A vacancy at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust for the position of Blood Transfusion Lead covering Queens Hospital, Romford and King George Hospital, Goodmayes. The role leads the Blood Transfusion Department within the Trust’s pathology network.
Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate the Blood Transfusion Service across both sites.
* Supervise technical work and lead a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff to provide high‑quality, efficient service.
* Ensure compliance with local and national policies, EU Directive on Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005 (MHRA), UKAS ISO15189 accreditation and SHOT standards.
* Provide direct line‑management responsibility for staff within the Blood Transfusion Department.
* Develop and transform the efficiency and quality of the service.
Qualifications & Experience
* Suitable qualification in Blood Transfusion Science or equivalent.
* Extensive experience in Blood Transfusion sciences and laboratory management.

* All new staff appointed at the Trust are subject to a probationary period.
