Overview
Personal assistant for young adult in Bath - 10hrs/wk @£15ph - Bath - BA2
Hours: 10 hours per week
Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Bath (home) and Keynsham (community activities)
About Me
I am a friendly and active person living independently in Bath, looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) to support me with day-to-day tasks and community activities. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user with conditions including hEDS and POTS, which affect mobility, fatigue, and energy levels. I also have autism and ADHD, which means I benefit from structure, clear communication, and support with executive functioning and social interactions.
My interests include wheelchair basketball, music (singing and playing piano), Harry Potter, languages, and learning about countries and flags. I enjoy being out and about, and would like to work with someone who is supportive, patient, and has a good sense of humour.
About the Role
The PA will provide practical and social support both at home and in the community. Tasks may include:
* Light domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
* Assisting with planning, prompting, and organisation
* Supporting access to the community (e.g. attending basketball in Keynsham)
* Occasional assistance with washing and dressing (mostly independent)
* Providing social and communication support at appointments or events
The role involves around 10 hours per week, with the following preferred schedule:
* Monday: 1:00pm – 2:00pm (Bath)
* Tuesday: 6:00pm – 8:00pm (Bath)
* Wednesday: 3:00pm – 4:30pm (Bath)
* Thursday: 4:00pm – 5:00pm (Bath)
* Friday: 5:45pm – 7:15pm (Keynsham, basketball)
* Weekends: Up to 3 hours (flexible – may replace weekday hours)
There is some flexibility on days/times (except Fridays, which are fixed).
About You
You do not need to have formal care experience, but a calm, reliable, and understanding approach is essential. Ideal qualities and experience include:
* Understanding or experience of autism, ADHD, and mental health
* Awareness of physical disability or chronic illness
* Willingness to learn and adapt to different communication and sensory needs
* Basic BSL (British Sign Language) knowledge desirable but not essential
* Female PA preferred (due to some aspects of personal care), but not essential
A DBS check is required for this role (funded).
A driving licence is desirable – a car can be provided for work-related travel.
Other Details
* No pets currently, but I am considering getting a cat.
* Non-smoker preferred, but not essential.
