Overview

The role: You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. We are looking to recruit a forward thinking individual who has experience of working within a CAMHS or Community paediatric context. You are required to be professionally registered, have management/leadership experience along with significant experience in working and assessing and diagnosing children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences.

The Neurodevelopmental Specialist leads the locality based Neurodevelopmental Team in the provision of specialist community based assessment and treatment packages for children and young people, and their families suffering from a wide range of Neurodevelopmental differences. The Neurodevelopmental Specialist / Team Lead provides specialist expertise (assessment/therapy/audit/consultation) to all health professionals and other partner agencies. The post holder has clinical leadership responsibility for Neurodevelopmental Team in Specialist Children’s Services within multidisciplinary teams. They will support the Neurodevelopmental Implementation Lead in managing the deployment of clinical resources and in supporting functions such as absence management. They will facilitate effective communication within the team and with external partners, and contribute to clinical governance, standards monitoring, complaints handling, staff support, learning and development, supervision, and policy/guideline implementation. This role may be recognised as the Neurodevelopmental Specialist / Team Lead for the Neurodevelopmental Team and may cover in the absence of the Neurodevelopmental Implementation Lead.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

* An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinician to lead the operational delivery of a specialist service for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions
* The post holder will work across CAMHS and Specialist Community Paediatrics Teams
* The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday


Key responsibilities

Clinical

* To be responsible for the assessment, formulation, treatment, review and discharge of individual caseload within a defined clinical area
* To deliver high quality care for a range of difficulties to a defined patient caseload
* To act upon referrals from a range of professionals and statutory/voluntary bodies as appropriate, by providing assessment, implementation and development of treatment programmes or by referral to other appropriate services
* Provide consultation / specialist advice, support and liaison with other professionals as necessary and as required
* To monitor outcomes of assessment and treatment, and keep other professionals involved/informed as appropriate
* To support and develop the implementation of the neurodevelopmental specification

Leadership/Professional

* To manage/supervise the workforce within the post holders sphere of responsibility
* To lead the neurodevelopmental team in developing structures that support joint working
* To support the Neurodevelopmental Implementation lead where required
* Set and monitor standards, respond to complaints, support staff learning and development, clinical supervision, implement policies and clinical guidelines
* Ensure maintenance of accurate, high quality written case records, reports and correspondence, within the nursing team
* To manage staff and students within the geographical area having responsibility for clinical supervision, professional development, appraisal, performance review, recruitment, and retention

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience

* Educated to degree level with valid registration/membership of relevant professional body
* Evidence of post-basic continuing personal and professional development
* Demonstrable Management or Leadership competencies with a completion of a course of study aimed at increasing management expertise and leadership qualities
* Previous experience working with children and young people in assessment and diagnosis as well as in providing therapeutic intervention in neurodevelopmental differences would be advantageous
* Ability to work across disciplines and co-ordinate care
* Experience of providing leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team would be advantageous
