JOB TITLE: UX Designer (12-Month FTC)
LOCATION(S): Halifax / Leeds
SALARY: £39,825 - £44,250
HOURS: Full-Time
DURATION: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the office.
About this opportunity
We’re looking for someone who can work collaboratively alongside a full design team, with a willingness to learn from – and support other Interaction Designers. They will be comfortable working with existing design systems and be an advocate of great User Experience (UX).
As a UX Designer, it’ll be your role to:
1. Design and layout pages and User Interfaces, skilfully and creatively using components from a central design system to figure out the right balance of content and UI (User Interface) elements on screen
2. Bring your designs to life with a choice of prototyping software, such as Sketch / InVision / Figma / Axure / Adobe XD
3. Balance business requirements with user needs – you'll be learning from other designers how research and rationale can align internal customers on individual user needs. You’ll learn when to diplomatically push back, if necessary, to act on what’s right for the customer
4. Be adaptable to the technical constraints of different platforms yet still be able to give guidance on creating the best possible end user experience
5. Learn about and become an advocate customer inclusion – what it means to make an inclusive and accessible design to be used by customers of a wide range of ages, backgrounds and technical abilities
What you'll need
6. A demonstrable Human Centered Design approach
7. A willingness to present their designs to internal customers and adapt designs to reflect their feedback
8. Ambitions to work collaboratively with – and learn from - a full-stack design team, including UX Writers, Service Designers and Visual Designers. Knowing where each of these disciplines overlap, and how as the UX designer you can connect them through rapid prototyping
9. An appetite for testing their designs with different users, taking onboard their feedback and presenting this data, along with design iterations back to internal customers
10. The ability to bring designs to life with a choice of prototyping software, such as Sketch / InVision / Figma / Axure / Adobe XD
11. An appreciation of customer inclusion – what it means to make an inclusive and accessible design that will be used by customers from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and technical abilities.
About working for us
Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We’re disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
