Post No. SSCF0231.12 - Social Worker Full time fixed term - March 27 (37 hours) An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Newport's Family and Friends team as a full time assessing social worker. This is a full time fixed term post until March 2027. Your role will include assessing friends and family members who have put themselves forward to care for children who may be unable to remain with their birth parents. You will be responsible for completing regulation 26 assessments, viability assessments and full Connected Persons assessments. You will therefore need to have excellent assessment skills and be able to carefully analyse potential carers abilities to meet the needs of specific children in both the short and long term. You will also need to have strong communication skills and be able to work to deadlines whilst producing high quality work which will be presented within the Court arena. You will have the ability to engage with service users effectively, with a focus on the safety and wellbeing of children.You will be skilled in developing and sustaining effective multi-agency working in order to collate relevant information pertinant to your assessment. You willl have an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of the new team and will be highly motivated, focused on providing high quality, timely and effective assessments with carers and have good organisational and time management skills. For this role you will be a practitioner with a professional social work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS. You must be registered with the Care Council for Wales.
