The post holder will work with the Head of ROC and Head of UEC to manage the provision of an efficient, effective, and high quality professional and well‑coordinated Urgent and Emergency Care service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements, ensuring alignment with the activities of the organisation. The role will also manage delivery of the critical path for the improvement of performance across the region, delivery through the winter period and sustaining performance thereafter.
Responsibilities
* Manage the provision of an efficient, effective, and high‑quality Urgent and Emergency Care service meeting statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements and aligned with organisational activities.
* Lead delivery of the critical path to improve winter performance across the region and sustain performance after the winter period.
* Provide programme management support to promote, enable and ensure delivery of the UEC delivery plan within the local geographical area, working with national, regional and local teams, ICBs/SCCs to share and implement systems and processes once across the North West.
* Provide local leadership and regional subject‑matter expertise in urgent and emergency care and/or change and transformation, balancing local delivery with regional programme priorities.
* Manage the local delivery function for the UEC national priority, respond to requests for information from the national team in a timely manner, design and implement response processes, coordinate information from networks and ICBs/SCCs, and provide advice and guidance.
* Maintain an overview and grip on a portfolio of UEC implementation issues locally, ensuring the senior management team and local tripartite group receive timely, accurate information to support decision making by working closely with analytics teams, local teams and ICBs/SCCs.
* Collaborate with managers within the regional programme team and across other priority programmes to ensure consistency of approach, share learning and tools for effective programme management.
* Participate in the EPRR on‑call rota if required.
* Work within a 7‑day working team, including weekends and bank holidays, on a shared rota basis. During quieter periods may support other teams or directorates depending on skill and experience.
