Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Trainee Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operational activities of the Finance Department of Voly Group. The role is office based in the Cheadle Royal Business Park.
You will play an integral role in supporting the Finance function, working with the Finance Manager in transforming the Finance function and improving upon current processes. You will be doing this by working collaboratively, expressing your opinions clearly and be prepared to challenge management in an appropriate and professional manner.
Responsibilities
· Preparation and distribution of monthly sales invoices and customer statements
· Proactive credit control, including chasing overdue debts and reducing debtor days
· Allocation of customer receipts and reconciliation of accounts
· Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate creditor ledgers
· Assisting with weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
· Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts. Progressing towards full ownership of Management Accounts for one group entity
· Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
· Ensure core systems (currently HubSpot) are maintained with accurate and up-to-date information.
· Perform other, ad-hoc projects (support Finance Manager as required).
· Create and maintain process documentation aligned with internal controls
· Be willing to assist and support any new Finance Team members, training and sharing best practice.

Experience and Skills
· Degree in Finance and Accounting (2:1 or above)
· Experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role preferred
· Strong knowledge of accounts receivable/accounts payable and general accounting principles
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
· Excellent numerical acumen
· High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) specifically Excel to a high standard
· Experience with accounting software (Xero preferred)
Desire to:
· Desire to undertake professional qualifications (CIMA or ACCA), with study support provided.
· Keen to gain exposure across all areas of finance.
· Motivated to develop into a Management Accountant role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £28,000.00 per year
