BASED AT: Quentor Ltd, 6 Lansdowne Road, Norwich Norfolk NR6 6NF.


THE BUSINESS: Quentor designs and manufactures bespoke flight cases, mobile walling systems, storage equipment and specialist deployable environments for demanding operational settings. Building on its strengths in precision-engineered, mission-critical solutions, Quentor is expanding its presence within the Defence and Government sectors, supporting customers across the UK and internationally.


JOB PURPOSE: The HR Officer will provide comprehensive, pragmatic HR support across the full employee lifecycle, acting as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers alike. The role combines hands‑on operational HR delivery with a proactive People Business Partner approach, supporting managers to build engaged, compliant, and high‑performing teams.

Working closely with senior management, the HR Officer will advise on people‑related matters, support organisational development and employee wellbeing, and help ensure that HR practices align with business objectives, company values, and employment legislation.

This is a part‑time role with a strong emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and practical problem‑solving within a growing SME environment.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Employee Relations & Advisory


* Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers on HR‑related matters.
* Provide competent, pragmatic advice on disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance issues in line with company policies and UK employment law.
* Support and, where appropriate, lead disciplinary and grievance processes, including note‑taking, outcome letters, and follow‑up actions.
* Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant people practices across the business.

People Business Partnering


* Work collaboratively with line managers to support effective team management, capability development, and succession planning.
* Coach managers on performance management, leadership, difficult conversations, and employee engagement.
* Identify people‑related risks and opportunities and propose practical solutions to support business objectives.
* Contribute to organisational change initiatives, restructures, or growth plans from a people perspective.


Recruitment, Induction & Onboarding


* Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including job descriptions, advertising, shortlisting, interviews, and offers.
* Support managers in selecting candidates aligned with both role requirements and company values.
* Manage and continuously improve induction and onboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience.


Performance Management & Appraisals


* Coordinate appraisal cycles and performance review processes.
* Support managers and employees in setting objectives and development plans.
* Track completion and ensure appraisal outcomes are followed through appropriately.





Wellbeing, Mental Health & Engagement


* Act as a Mental Health First Aider and Champion for the business.
* Promote employee wellbeing, mental health awareness, and a positive workplace culture.
* Act as a confidential point of contact for employees seeking support.
* Support engagement initiatives, staff communications, and feedback activities.
* Assist with absence management and wellbeing‑related interventions.


Payroll & HR Administration


* Produce weekly timesheets from our HR system (PeopleHR) and liaise with payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
* Maintain accurate personnel records, contracts, and HR data in line with GDPR requirements.
* Support the production of HR reports and people metrics as required.


Policies, Compliance & Continuous Improvement


* Maintain HR policies, procedures, handbook, and employee documentation, ensuring they remain up to date and legally compliant.
* Support audits, inspections, or external HR advisors as required.
* Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and employee experience.






HOURS: 3 days per week/ 25.50 hours per week


LOCATION: The role will mainly be office-based at our Norwich headquarters.


HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum pro rata, including 8 days for public holidays, which equates to 19.5 days.

· Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the business.

· Confident in advising managers and influencing people decisions.

· Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation and compliance matters.

· Problem‑solving mindset with a commercial awareness of business needs.


LITERACY AND NUMERACY


· High standard of written English, with the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence and documentation.

· Good numeracy skills, particularly in relation to timesheets, payroll inputs, and basic HR metrics.

· Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and contractual documents accurately.


COMPUTER SKILLS


· Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Comfortable using HR systems, payroll interfaces, and shared document platforms.

* · Confident in producing basic HR reports, trackers, and spreadsheets.
