The appointment will be made at FA6 of the University of Warwick salary scale.

We are looking for an exceptional and inspirational teacher who takes pride in their work. The successful candidate will be required to undertake teaching duties in the politics of Eastern Africa, broadly defined, and be able to provide teaching on comparative politics more broadly. They will have the ability and willingness to act as Module Director and teach on UG and PGT level modules including modules such PO2D1 Politics of Eastern Africa, and PO390 Violence and Reconciliation in Eastern Africa.

They will also supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The department recognises the importance of research to teaching practice and the successful applicant will be supported to develop their research profile within the framework of the role.

About You

You will possess an honours degree or equivalent, and a PhD or equivalent (awarded or near completion) in a relevant discipline. You will have a commitment to the use and development of innovative teaching methods and e-learning techniques within the classroom and to valuing diversity in, and promoting an inclusive approach to, teaching.

A demonstrable commitment to inclusive teaching practices—particularly in relation to supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds, including those with disabilities and the implementation of reasonable adjustments—is essential. Experience with decolonising the curriculum and anti-racist, intersectional, or other critical pedagogical approaches is highly desirable.
