Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join our team in Royal Victoria Hospital, Dundee. You will have an opportunity to expand and develop your knowledge and skills for a range of adult acquired communication and swallowing difficulties with an emphasis on rehabilitation.
This post provides swallowing and communication assessment and rehabilitation to individuals who present primarily with stroke or brain injury. The post holder will also support and supervise junior staff members and work closely with CSWs with the inpatient case load. MDT working is key within this setting. The pathway for stroke patients in Tayside is currently under development and there will be close liaison with the acute and community SLT teams for in reach and outreach to ensure smooth and timely transitions from hospital to home.
The post holder will contribute to/ run training sessions for staff and be involved in SLT and student training.
You will join a supportive team of experienced therapists at Royal Victoria Hospital and be part of the wider Tayside service. Professional development is supported and encouraged through our clinical supervision, appraisal structure and regular team meetings.
You must be HCPC registered.
Responsibilities
* Provide swallowing and communication assessment and rehabilitation for adults, primarily after stroke or brain injury.
* Develop and implement rehabilitation plans; monitor progress and outcomes.
* Supervise junior staff members and collaborate with CSWs on inpatient caseload.
* Engage in MDT working and liaise with acute and community SLT teams for timely transitions from hospital to home.
* Contribute to/lead training sessions for staff and participate in SLT and student training.
* Participate in service development and professional development activities.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered (Speech & Language Therapist).
* Hours of work: 21 hours per week.
