We have alovely nursing team and are looking for someone to work on a Monday andWednesday morning from 8am to 1.15pm, a total of 10.5 hours per week. Due to room availability and operationalcover, we are unable to offer any alternative days at this time.

The pay isbetween £12.98 and £13.63 per hour (dependent on experience) and there will be atraining and probationary period.

Main duties of the job
Duties will include, but are not limited to, phlebotomy, ECGs, administration of some routine adult vaccinations, NHS health checks, BP monitoring, diabetic foot checks, chaperone duties, basic wound care and ear irrigation under the direction of the nursing team, providing support during minor surgery and family planning clinics, processing of samples and teledermatoloy.

We are small 3partner, 4 salaried doctors, semi-rural practice with a growing population of 7,400 registeredpatients. Our boundary area mainlycovers the villages of North Common, Oldland Common, Cadbury Heath, Warmley,Longwell Green, Willsbridge, and up to Bitton.We have a team of clinical GPs, an ANP, nursing/HCA staff as well as a ClinicalPharmacist and Physiotherapist, a Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Managerand admin/reception support staff. Wealso have care co-ordinators attached to the practice via our local PCN.

We are proud to say that 2years ago we were rated second in Bristol, North Somerset & SouthGloucestershire in the National Patient Satisfaction Survey and we continue toscore highly in this area and in our monthly friends and family responses. This is down to the hard work of the entirepractice team. We have a team offantastic and dedicated staff who complement each other in their knowledge,skills, and experience.
We operatefrom a converted farmhouse in the village of North Common which has plenty offree parking for staff. We are fortunateto have a lovely garden at the front of the practice so in the summer we oftenhave lunch outside. All consulting roomsare situated on the ground floor and there is a small dispensary next toreception. Upstairs houses admin rooms, the staff room and kitchen, plus a roomfor meetings and training.
Job responsibilities
Jobpurpose:
Workingunder the supervision of the nursing team and strictly in accordance withspecific practice guidelines and protocols and within the scope of theirpractice, the HCA will assist the practice clinical team in the provision anddelivery of prescribed programmes of patient care including preventative care,health promotion and patient education
Undertakevenepuncture ensuring all samples are correctly labelled and sent to thelaboratory according to current timeframes
UndertakeECGs ensuring the results are shown to the duty doctor before the patientleaves the premises
Assistwith the practices NHS health checks programme checks undertaken in line withthe requirements of the LES
Administersome adult vaccinations in line with the practices protocols ensuring PSDsare completed if appropriate
Supportthe practices adult influenza and Covid campaigns
Carryout baseline observations such as height, weight, BMI, pulse oximetry, bloodpressures, temperatures, pulse rates and record findings accurately on theclinical system
Undertakediabetic foot checks in line with agreed protocols
Undertakebasic would care and simple dressings as triaged by the nursing team
Undertakeear irrigation under the direction of a practice nurse
Providesupport during minor surgery and family planning clinics as directed by thelead GP
Undertaketeledermatology clinics taking photographs of skin lesions when requested bythe GP team
Actas a chaperone when required
Processlaboratory samples and ensure the practices UTI protocol is followed
Undertakeweekly cleaning and re-stocking of consulting rooms in line with the practicesinfection control policy and ensuring the appropriate paperwork is completed
Supportand participate in shared learning within the practice including attendance at regularnurse meetings, clinical meetings and staff training afternoons
Attendingtraining as required to ensure your skills are maintained
Completethe care certificate course if not already undertaken
Deliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriate to include smoking cessation
Toundertake any additional duties as directed by the nursing team and within thescope of their practice

Qualifications
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Experience working in a healthcare setting
* Experience providing direct patient care
* Experience and ability to perform basic observations (BP, pulse, temperature, weight)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to communicate sensitively with patients
* Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Compassionate, caring and professional manner
