Haven Female PICU is a 5-bed unit that provides high level, compassionate care to women in the most acute phases of serious mental disorders. We support patients with psychotic disorders, mood disorders, complex trauma and personality disorders, within a calm and therapeutic environment as part of a friendly, skilled multidisciplinary team.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a confident, enthusiastic and caring worker who can thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to providing the best experience for our service users. Availability to work shifts across seven days, including nights, is required.

Requirements and compliance

* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate in lieu of a new check.
* Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course must be undertaken; successful completion is a condition of employment.
* Applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply.

Role and responsibilities

* Work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide care and treatment to patients detained under the Mental Health Act using a wide range of nursing interventions in line with national guidelines.
* Support the provision of care to meet patients’ physical, psychological and social needs.
* Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment when nursing patients with high-risk behaviours.
* Implement co-produced and individualised care plans and contribute to the evaluation of interventions.
* Lead and engage patients in a variety of activities both on and off the ward.
* Promote freedom of choice, autonomy and least restrictive practice in a safe and therapeutic environment.
