Job Opportunity: Engagement Officer - North Nottinghamshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join the North Nottinghamshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme as an Engagement Officer.
This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is based at Kings Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. The post holder will need to travel to external venues and will have line management responsibility for designated administrative staff.
The main responsibilities include managing the monthly electronic patient data transfer via GP2DRS from GP practices to the screening programme, maintaining the accuracy of the database, and updating GP practices about DNR rates and patient uptake.
The role requires high-level communication skills to support the Diabetic Eye Screening team by working with patients, GP practices, healthcare professionals, and community groups. The goal is to reduce health inequalities and improve access to diabetic eye screening to prevent sight-threatening eye disease.
Role Responsibilities
1. Line manage the administration staff.
2. Manage the programme’s patient list using data transfers and specialised software, including SystmOne.
3. Work towards reducing persistent non-responding patients (DNRs), a key KPI.
4. Identify vulnerable patients and address health inequalities.
5. Analyze data to establish actions for addressing inequalities and low screening uptake.
6. Prepare and present reports to multidisciplinary teams and commissioners, demonstrating engagement and outcomes.
7. Conduct patient satisfaction surveys.
8. Promote diabetic eye screening through external events and presentations.
9. Maintain the programme’s website and manage social media advertising.
