Summary
As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people. Based at the White Cliffs of Dover your time will be spent working across some of the nation’s most iconic coastal places.
You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
What it's like to work here
You'll report to the Countryside Manager and work with Area Ranger. We have nine people in the Ranger Team spread over three geographically distinct areas – North Kent, White Cliffs and Winchelsea.An ever popular location, the White Cliffs of Dover attract thousands of visitors each year. Looking out over the English Channel, the views are stunning and on a good day, the French coast can be visible. The location is full of unusual plants and insects too, as well as showcasing the historic significance of the area, so has something for everyone. In joining our friendly team, you'll be helping us provide a great visit for everyone.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
